BusinessworldIndia’s online gaming industry is finally getting serious attention. Kreeda Games India, a Mumbai-based multi-player online game operator, has recently got funding from IDG Ventures India and SoftBank Bodhi Investment LLC, which is managed by SoftBank China & India Holdings. Says Anil Viakara, managing partner, SoftBank China & India Holdings, “It’s a new sector, and the company seems promising,” says Kreeda’s CEO Quentin Staes-Polet, adding that the funding was “less than $10 million (Rs 41,000 crore)”.

Kreeda.com is in the process of localising content. Unlike existing players such as Zapak.com, or games2win, Kreeda doesn’t plan to enter other Internet-related businesses. It is also trying to match up with the Indian broadband speed. “We are trying to develop games that can be played at lower speed,” says Staes-Polet.
Kreeda’s first game, Dance Mela, where users can actually dance with their friends, will be launched in the near future. There is also a special dancing pad, which you can buy to actually dance as you play.
